Since the teacher got minecraft Eduction on our chromebooks we also have a monthly challenge. The challenge was to build something that you wanted on a island and then talk about why you would want it. This monthly challenge was also to get all the other teachers to get the program aswell if they want to use it for math, for intance for area and perimeter and other things if you can think of it. its not much but I couldn't really think of much to write.

"I have made an island with many things like a Dock, Mine, floating island, Castle, a fountain and some other things. I will be talking about the Mine and the Dock. The reason why I would want a dock is because If people came by they could land at the Island and help me out. If they were looking to mine for gold or coal because of his job there would be a mine at the island for them to go down but they have to give me something and get me off the island.

You can also use minecraft for writing like they have to build something and then take a photo and then write a story based on the scene they built. You can use it for maths for area and perimeter. Art as building a minecraft build but you be competitive for the best build. Also you can use it for fun and games."So that is what I wrote for the monthly challenge and trying to convince the teachers. What would you build if you time and idea's?

why we haven't been blog for 3 months

The reason why I haven't been blogging is because we did not meet the criteria for blogging on blogger.  This went on for about 2 or 3 months. I don't really like blogs because I'm not really someone that likes to share half the stuff I do online. I'm not so happy that the blogs came back but I can't control everything.

This is the date of my last blog and my proof of that I couldn't blog also I think a lot of other schools lost blogger aswell.

But when doing it on a site it was a lot easier because I could easily control C-V and make a blog.

If this happened would you be happy or sad?

Me and Dads star wars figures

These are the star wars figures that and dad and I have been playing with. The games take time, it's really fun. We have played multiple games dad has won the most. I have won twice and dad has won 3 or 4 times. The names of the ships are slave 1 which is the one at the back in the middle, The V-T 49 is at the back left, then the other big one is the Millenium Falcon. The tie phantom, tie defender, tie advanced, tie fo/fighter, tie fighter and the tie interceptors are at the front. I love to play with imperials because of how good they are at making ships. They are good at making ships because they could easily make very strong ships like the star destroyer or the tie fighters that are faster than the rebel ships. Although the ships are fast they don't do too much damage which is the problem for the imperials.

If star wars were real what side would you be on?

The Time Capsule

We have been learning about what Time Capsules are. We are also making our own. We are planning for these to be found in 50 years or more maybe less though a long time from 2021. We are hoping that by putting in our emails and names in if they do get found they might be able to find us. Also halfway through this writing, we got Minecraft on our computers and we only use it for math subjects.

This is my writing it is pretty far away from the camera though it was the clearest picture. At the start of this, we all watched a video about Time Capsules and started to write it down on our Chromebooks and then onto paper. Would you ever make a Time Capsule to remind you of your past?

Olympics 2020 /Peter Snell

We were learning about the Olympics back in the 1900s and 1800s and I chose to learn about Peter Snell. There were four New Zealand runners, all of them were well known except for Peter Snell. The four were in the first heat 800m, he was a strong man. Everyone was surprised that Peter Snell came first in the heat and wins again to go to the semi-finals. The strongly built man had surprised everyone just from getting here, though  he surprises them again and goes to the finals.

NZ's Greatest Olympians - Peter Snell

In the 800m, final Peter Snell runs the fastest he has ever gone down the back straight. He slips through a gap that opens between other runners and chucks himself at the finish line to win the Olympic Gold medal.   Would you ever go to the Olympics if you had a chance?

Weaved Flax Into Plates or baskets

On Monday we did flax weaving since it was Matariki week. We learnt about Matariki because of school.
We also learnt how to make a plate and basket out of flax so we could have a sausage on Friday. You could go in pairs though you each need one or otherwise the other person wouldn't get one. The class practised making a flax plate. The next day we were told to make a basket or mat. The people that had finished from Monday had kept their mat and were trying to make a basket.
If you wanted to make a basket you'd need 12 pieces of cut flax, lay 7 landscape and 5 portrait on top of the 7 flax. I tried to make a basket though I decided to make a mat, though to start it off I needed someone's help. Here is how my one turned out. None of it was easy it took many attempts for me and I feel great for finishing it.
If you had free time would you ever do it?

Bottle rocket fun

This week we launched a rocket it didn't go far though it went really high into the air. At one point all you could see was a black dot. When it fell down we went to use it again though, the second time, the top part of the rocket blew off and a crack was in the middle of it. after that, we learnt that we'd need to either reinforce the top so you can use it multiple times.
What would you use to make your own bottle rocket?

Cricket says reeee

We have been learning about cricket skills, we have been learning on how to bowl properly and also playing some cricket games. It's kinda made some of us better by an inch. Though some people stayed the same level because they were already good at cricket. There were 2 people that came to our school and we again practice our bowling and after that we had a challenge. At the beginning of when they came we played a game called snowball tag. Snowball tag is were you have a ball and you need to tag people with the ball but you can't throw it.

This is us playing on another game were you spread out into a circle and you need to catch the ball or you get a letter. What that means is that you pick a word and someone doesn't catch the ball they get a letter. If its a bad bowl the person that bowled gets a letter.

Kereru Clued up kids

Last Friday we went to Clued up kids there were different sections of  it. The ones I remember is kitchen safety, what to do if you get a knife in your arm, if you had a fire in your house, what you should do around a horse, what you should do if you get lost and safety on being on a 4-wheeler. This is a picture of us at the quad-bike safety service.

Here are some things that we got taught, if you are lost you should stay where you are and wait for help. if you have a fire in your house you shout fire very loud to wake everyone up and get outside. if you need to go past a horse you go past quietly and slow. If you ever do get a knife in your you don't take the knife out and you put pressure on it with something that you can tie around the knife like a bandage. The reason why you don't pull the knife out is because then blood would flow out a lot faster. The picture right here is us at the fire safety service.

Kawa of care Poster

Two weeks ago we had to make a poster about Kawa of care which means respect for your Chromebooks. Before we started to make them we looked at all the Chromebook rules and it was on a blank white background. This is when we could either choose to be alone or in a pair to work on it. We made it on canva and it was fun to put lots of different things on it like the background and the stars on the parrot. My most favourite part was putting the pictures on. Have you ever used Canva?.

Today we all made paper helicopters and did tests and races to see who's one was better. For yours to be the better one would have to stay up in the air the longest. We kept on doing that to each other and friends. It was cool to have them flying around because they sometimes landed on peoples heads. Have you ever tried to make one?. This is how to make one.

With some strips of paper and a few paper clips, you can create a mini papercopter that spins like a real helicopter.

What You'll Need:

  • Strips of heavy paper or cardboard (1X10 inches)
  • Small paper clips
  • Markers or crayons

How to Make Papercopter:

Step 1: Fold a 1X10-inch strip of paper in half. Fold the ends down about two inches, but don't fold them straight down. Instead, fold them at a slight angle.

Place a paper clip on the bottom of your folded papercopter.
Place a paper clip on the bottom of your folded papercopter.

Step 2: Push a paper clip onto the bottom, and fold the wings out. Decorate your papercopter with markers or crayons. Holding your papercopter by the paper clip, throw it into the air and watch it spin.

Keep reading to learn how to make a twirling helicopter.

This week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, we had Mr Kinane and he told us about micro-bits and how to make an electric gate and using micro bits to open and close the electric gate. My favourite thing was how he taught us to make a paper scissors rock game with the micro bits and our chrome books. I had  a group of three with my friends when making the electric gate and we still couldn't figure out how to work it. The site that we used was makecode.microbit.org.

This is a collage that I made using a tool called explore. What I tried to make was a roman castle. To make it I  used roman walls and archer towers. I used explore for the whole collage and a crop tool. it took a while for me to make it. The thing that i'm most proud of is the archer towers. Have you ever made a collage before?.

Barrier game

Today we had Mrs Minehan and we played a game called barrier how to play the game is easy you have a grid and pictures, you put the computers lids right next to each other and one person has a picture of were everything is. The other player has to listen closely and put the little pictures in the same spot as the other players picture of the grid. have you ever played before?.

The magic show

El Gregoe came to our school and showed us magic. My favourite trick that he showed us was making this parrot in the picture come out of thin air. there were other parrots as well, there was a painting with a white bird and it came out of painting. He taught us about bullying and being nice, but the magic was the best. There were poems of respect and caring. I loved the birds the most. There was a red parrot and a red and grey parrot, the grey one copied what El Gregoe said. What is your favourite magic trick?.

Pick a path story

The class and I made a pick a path story in the google drawings and I thought i'd make a fake monster one. The black pieces are the start & finish, the red ones are the bad ones and the green ones are the good ones. as you can see I finished mine but now I Have to put it on a google form. the thing I liked about it was that I could make my own little story and I got addicted to it. The thing that I didn't like about it was it took along time for me to think of something

Lego land.

Today we did cybersmart with Kotuku because the teacher made us. For cybersmart we went on our computers and made a slide got a bubble and took a photo of whoever people were with, and you ask were they really want to go, I was with Lucas and he said he wanted to go to Lego land so that was are background. When you take the picture of your buddy you get the picture in the slide and put them somewhere on the bubble. Then you make an animation like mine and everyone else's. Lucas taught me how to draw on a ipad as he was recording his story.

Bruce Mclaren

I have created a story map from the reading tasks on the learning site all of my class has to do it, its about Bruce Mclaren. he raced for his father once, when he was 15 years old. later on in his life he was able to go in his own races. I created it because it was a reading task that the class had to do. I learnt that most super cars came from Bruce and his father in the 1953-1970.
