Olympics 2020 /Peter Snell

We were learning about the Olympics back in the 1900s and 1800s and I chose to learn about Peter Snell. There were four New Zealand runners, all of them were well known except for Peter Snell. The four were in the first heat 800m, he was a strong man. Everyone was surprised that Peter Snell came first in the heat and wins again to go to the semi-finals. The strongly built man had surprised everyone just from getting here, though  he surprises them again and goes to the finals.

NZ's Greatest Olympians - Peter Snell

In the 800m, final Peter Snell runs the fastest he has ever gone down the back straight. He slips through a gap that opens between other runners and chucks himself at the finish line to win the Olympic Gold medal.   Would you ever go to the Olympics if you had a chance?

Weaved Flax Into Plates or baskets

On Monday we did flax weaving since it was Matariki week. We learnt about Matariki because of school.
We also learnt how to make a plate and basket out of flax so we could have a sausage on Friday. You could go in pairs though you each need one or otherwise the other person wouldn't get one. The class practised making a flax plate. The next day we were told to make a basket or mat. The people that had finished from Monday had kept their mat and were trying to make a basket.
If you wanted to make a basket you'd need 12 pieces of cut flax, lay 7 landscape and 5 portrait on top of the 7 flax. I tried to make a basket though I decided to make a mat, though to start it off I needed someone's help. Here is how my one turned out. None of it was easy it took many attempts for me and I feel great for finishing it.
If you had free time would you ever do it?

Bottle rocket fun

This week we launched a rocket it didn't go far though it went really high into the air. At one point all you could see was a black dot. When it fell down we went to use it again though, the second time, the top part of the rocket blew off and a crack was in the middle of it. after that, we learnt that we'd need to either reinforce the top so you can use it multiple times.
What would you use to make your own bottle rocket?

Cricket says reeee

We have been learning about cricket skills, we have been learning on how to bowl properly and also playing some cricket games. It's kinda made some of us better by an inch. Though some people stayed the same level because they were already good at cricket. There were 2 people that came to our school and we again practice our bowling and after that we had a challenge. At the beginning of when they came we played a game called snowball tag. Snowball tag is were you have a ball and you need to tag people with the ball but you can't throw it.

This is us playing on another game were you spread out into a circle and you need to catch the ball or you get a letter. What that means is that you pick a word and someone doesn't catch the ball they get a letter. If its a bad bowl the person that bowled gets a letter.

Kereru Clued up kids

Last Friday we went to Clued up kids there were different sections of  it. The ones I remember is kitchen safety, what to do if you get a knife in your arm, if you had a fire in your house, what you should do around a horse, what you should do if you get lost and safety on being on a 4-wheeler. This is a picture of us at the quad-bike safety service.

Here are some things that we got taught, if you are lost you should stay where you are and wait for help. if you have a fire in your house you shout fire very loud to wake everyone up and get outside. if you need to go past a horse you go past quietly and slow. If you ever do get a knife in your you don't take the knife out and you put pressure on it with something that you can tie around the knife like a bandage. The reason why you don't pull the knife out is because then blood would flow out a lot faster. The picture right here is us at the fire safety service.

E.Book

This week we did some some narrative writing.  I wrote a story and we made it into an E.book and to start it we went on a site that had multiple pictures called Pobble 365. we chose one for us to use in our story. I started off with 3 slides but I got engrossed in what I was writing and ended up with 6 slides.  Have you ever done this?
